As mentioned in our April blog,  Amazon.com had plans to build it’s first two warehouses in Florida; over 1 million square feet apiece. The internet retail giant attributes this move to the “collaboration” with our state, city and county officials.

So far, Amazon.com has hired more than 1,000 people for these distributions centers. The center in Ruskin will handle small packages and the one in Lakeland will handle the larger items. A major part of the jobs at both centers will involve shipping and packing materials.

Construction of the two warehouses is expected to be completed around the end of the year.
