Work is in full force now on the $2.3 billion Ultimate I-4 renovation and there’s still a need for more subcontractors and vendors. An article in the Orlando Business Journal says that by the estimated completion in 2021, SGL will have accepted bids for roughly 500 subcontracting packages in different areas. A few packages are currently out to bid – Concrete paving, Utility work, Wall installation, Concrete painting, and Saw cutters. There are also several vendor packages currently out for bid include Piping, Construction consumables, Hardware, Structural Steel, and Civil items.
According to the article, all subcontractors and vendors must be certified by the FDOT and also be members of the SmartBid system, a database that keeps track of subcontractors and vendors, provides package information and allows subcontractors and vendors to bid on packages.
